Chesapeake Pediatric Dentist
Luke Winter, DDS
Dr. Winter is a native of Berryville, Virginia. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architectural History and a minor in Architecture. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from West Virginia University and completed his Pediatric Dentistry specialty training at the Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. He is a member of the American Association of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the Tidewater Dental Association.
Dr. Winter’s love of caring for children of all ages began when he worked as a pediatric dental assistant during college. While in dental school and residency Dr. Winter participated in a variety of volunteer opportunities including: Special Olympics, Missions of Mercy Project, Give Kids a Smile Program, and food drives with his church. After countless soccer tournaments, fishing expeditions, and golf outings, he is excited to call the Tidewater area home. Dr. Winter and his wife, Dr. Pamela McDonald, also a pediatric dentist, enjoy spending time with their 4-year-old Australian shepherd, Layla.
Gail V. Plauka, DMD
Dr. Plauka is a Board Certified pediatric dentist and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She is a Phi Beta Kappa scholar of Wake Forest University. She completed her dental degree at the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in 1978; then completed a one-year residency in General Dentistry at Eugene Talmadge Memorial Hospital followed by a two-year residency in Pediatric Dentistry at the Medical College of Georgia.
Dr. Plauka is on the staff of Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters. She is a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Virginia Dental Association, Tidewater Dental Association, Virginia Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Plauka has enjoyed speaking at regional and national pediatric dental conferences. She is an active member of First Lutheran Church, Norfolk, where she has served as Church Council President. If she is not practicing dentistry, you will likely find her spending time with her two grown daughters or on the tennis court. Licensed to practice dentistry in Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia, Dr. Plauka has practiced dentistry in the Great Bridge area of Chesapeake since 1985.
